Olive Wood Board.webp__PID:ffa6f3c1-5230-47ec-934d-73ed9e999d32

Natural Olive Wood Collection

Elevate your entertaining with this beautiful handcrafted Natural Olive Wood Tray.   This tray features a thoughtfully designed groove that serves as a "juice well" around the edge, perfect for serving citrus slices, olives, or appetizers without the mess. The natural olive wood is nonporous and coated with a protective layer of olive oil.

The trays are ethically handcrafted by artisans in Tunisia, using wood from non-productive olive trees. This sustainable sourcing ensures that no fruit-bearing trees are harmed, and the wood is repurposed, reducing waste and promoting responsible forestry practices.

Care Instructions:  Hand wash the tray with warm water and a mild, non-abrasive soap. Avoid soaking the wood or placing it in the dishwasher. Dry the tray immediately with a soft cloth to prevent moisture absorption.
Oiling: Periodically apply a food-safe mineral oil or olive oil to the tray using a clean, lint-free cloth. Rub the oil into the wood in the direction of the grain, allowing it to absorb for several hours. Buff off any excess oil to restore the wood's natural luster and prevent drying or cracking.
A mixture of lemon juice and baking soda can be used to gently remove stains and odors.

End of Life:
Olive wood is biodegradable. Small pieces can be composted, returning nutrients to the soil.
Garden Use:  Incorporate small pieces into garden beds as a natural mulch, aiding in moisture retention and enriching the soil.
Repurpose:  Before disposal, consider repurposing the tray for other uses around the home, such as a decorative piece or a base for candles (which we recommend doing between other uses as it's too pretty to put in a cabinet).

Handmade Seed Embedded Paper

The paper used to display the QR Code is handmade in Nepal by rural craftspeople in an environmentally friendly process with 50% recycled content.  The raw material in this paper is the Daphne bush.  It is farmed and harvested from 3-4 year old plants that are cut and stripped of bark.  The plant is not destroyed when cut down and it regenerates from the root.  The cane like stick, once the bark is removed, is dried and used to heat the villager's homes, as fuel for cooking and in the production of this paper.  All water used in the paper production is reclaimed and reused.  The bark is beaten by hand, boiled into pulp, mixed with recycled pulp & paper scrap collected from the card and envelope manufacturing process) then pored into screens to form sheets.  The sheets are then dried in the sun.  The entire process is earth friendly and provides a community with a healthy enterprise.  You can choose to recycle this paper, compost it, or even plant it and watch flowers bloom.  Each sheet is embedded with seeds that will grow in North America.   Seeds in the paper include 10 annual and perennial species which tolerate partial shade, need 4 hours a day of direct sunlight, and grow to about 3 feet.
Seeds include: Snapdragon, Petunia, Beardtounge, Daisy, Thyme, Poppy, Foxglove, Catchfly, Maiden Pinks, Chamomile.   If you plant this paper in a pot or in your garden please cover with 1/8" of soil to keep it moist until established; as germinating seeds and seedlings cannot survive even a brief drought.  Made in Nepal Printed on Recycled Paper

Our Box is a Boox

Booxes are made from corrugated polypropylene sheets, using a patent-pending design.  Produced in the US from a combination of new and post-consumer polypropylene (#5 on the recycled plastics chart – PCR).  Boox has a goal to improve the post-consumer percentage over time, eventually getting to 100% PCR.  They are also experimenting with material made from ocean plastics and other sources.  Boox chose polypropylene (PP) for a variety of reasons— It’s waterproof, tear-proof, and lighter than cardboard, while still being rigid and durable enough to protect products during shipping.  That means each Boox box can be reused many times before reaching the end of life.  But, at end of life, PP can be processed back into more Booxes efficiently.  Many people think of plastics as detrimental to the environment.  Boox would like to encourage people to think differently about it— SINGLE-USE plastics (but really any single-use product) are bad for the environment and can end up in rivers and oceans where they don’t degrade for a long time.  But, that same longevity can be put to great use if we can change the culture of consumption and shift towards the circular economy.
Scan the QR Code on the Boox to return it so it can be used again and again and again and again ...
