Loom.ist Turkish Towel

Toss this stunning 100% Turkish cotton towel in your tote as you head out for a day at the beach, pool, or a weekend trip.  You’ll love the absorbency of this thin towel. The practical nature of the fabric allows it to dry both you and itself quickly. The silky, soft-touch of this lightweight towel is fabulous as a beach towel (does not hold sand), scarf, or sarong. Super portable, and the favorite carry-on of travelers.

Following a 150 year-old tradition, 100% cotton hand-loomed with traditional techniques by small family weavers and finished with hand-tied fringe by women from Denizli, the world renown textile region of Turkey. The OEKO-TEX® certified fabric is free from harmful chemicals, washed in the Black Sea and dried on the quartz sand beach with hand-tied fringe. The Loom.ist  collection is ethically conscious with production processes that ensure the utmost care and sustainable practices.

Turkish towels are different than standard cotton towels, but their care is simple. Follow these steps to keep your towel looking and feeling amazing.

Wash the Turkish towel before using. Pre-washing will create the most absorbency. For best results, soak the towel in cool water overnight. This will help the towel become more absorbent.

Use a gentle cycle on your washing machine and low heat on the dryer. Avoid fabric softeners and dryer sheets, wool dryer balls are the best option. And of course, avoid bleach!  Turkish towels air dry very quickly, so hang them to dry, which is always best for the planet.

When you are done with the towel, donate if it's still in usable condition, if not follow the steps below:

  • Simply cut into very small pieces, add to your compost pile (put in pick-up compost bin) or bury in your flower bed or garden. The pieces will help the soil maintain water and will biodegrade in 1 week to 5 months (depending on the size of the pieces).
